New Indie Author News & Life Updates
It is a universally acknowledged truth that an indie author at the peak of their journey gets laid off and still has to decide if their dream is still worth the effort, resources and energy.
I sacrificed my consistency here on Substack for the illusion of job security and learned the hard way that a “real job” is indeed whatever you put “real work” into.
Lesson learned. It won’t be a mistake I will be making again.
So here’s what comes next:
PUBLISHING!
For my birthday this year, I gifted myself a full set of ISBNs so I can start putting my books on Kindle Unlimited. I’m working on an option for direct sales that still protects my IP as an alternative as well.
My debut romance & fantasy novella “Shadow & Vine” is now set to come out very early spring. I am working with some artist to get character art done as well as going through my last round of edits (pacing and line edits)
This entire journey has shown me just how hard it truly is to write and produce a book—to take an idea and make it into something tangible that hopefully, readers can enjoy. I’ve naively over-promised and under-delivered on a few things and I want to apologize for that. The truth is that I’m still learning how to do this whole indie author thing. So if you’ve been patient with me as I mold myself into something I’ve never been, thank you for joining me on this journey of becoming.
This week I am working on setting my pre-order dates and mapping out my author journey for 2026!
So this is me wishing you all a happy holidays and looking forward to resuming out weekly shenanigans in January of 2026!
